Week 17: Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears
Name Record To-Date This Week’s Pick Score Prediction
Kris Burke 8-7 Green Bay Packers 27-24
Sure the Packers get Randall Cobb and Aaron Rodgers back but they can’t play defense. Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall go crazy as two pitiful defenses face off. It’ll probably come down to last drive so I say Green Bay by the skin of their teeth
“Jersey” Al Bracco 7-8 Green Bay Packers 31-22
Is there anything better than this? Packers-Bears in an “elimination death match?” With all due respect to Rodgers and Cobb, Cutler at QB for the Bears is just what was needed from GB’s perspective. He doesn’t throw the end zone jump balls as well as McCown. That really hurt the Pack in the first game.
Notes
Adam Czech 9-6 Green Bay Packers 31-27
Packers fans are all fired up and cocky about the return of Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb. I got news for you folks: Sunday is going to be a damn tough game. Chicago’s WRs are huge and should have a field day against a Packers defense that tends to disappear in big games. However, I still think Rodgers makes the difference and the Packers pull this one out.
Marques Eversoll 8-7 Green Bay Packers 35-24
Aaron Rodgers is going to be Aaron Rodgers. And as long as Eddie Lacy is playing, the Chicago defense is in for a long afternoon. Sam Shields and Tramon Williams will need to bring their A-game.
Thomas Hobbes 7-8 Green Bay Packers 21-20
If I stuck with the Packers when it was Scott Tolzein, no way am I not picking them with Aaron Rodgers under center.  However, the biggest key will be Eddie Lacy and the running game.  If Rodgers can keep the defense honest (how the tides have turned), Eddie Lacy will have a shot at shredding a historically bad run defense.
Cory Jennerjohn 11-4 Green Bay Packers 27-21
Everyone wants to make this game out to be the triumphant return of Aaron Rodgers. And while it is great to see the Packers’ franchise quarterback return, this game is more about Jay Cutler. He owns just a 1-8 career record as the starting quarterback vs. Green Bay. The last time Cutler beat Green Bay was Sept. 27, 2010. This game will come down to how healthy Eddie Lacy is because the Soldier Field turf will more than likely be turned into oatmeal after the first quarter. That and the Bears tepid defense is allowing 162 rushing yards a game after giving up 289 last week.
Jason Perone 8-7 Chicago Bears 35-34
The return of Aaron Rodgers gives the Packers as much chance and hope as they can possibly need to win this game.  The game will be there for the taking but home field advantage and Chicago’s offense against Green Bay’s defense is just a bit too much.  A late touchdown dashes the Packers’ hopes for a magical postseason run.
Chad Toporski 8-7  Chicago Bears 38-27
The Packers’ offseason starts early this year as the Bears offense proves to be too much for Dom Capers’ defense, closing off one of the most disappointing years since Aaron Rodgers became the starter.

  1. GB wins by 14. Chicago’s defense is so bad that GB will be up huge fairly quickly and Chicago will be forced to abandon the run and play catchup.

    GO PACK GO!

  2. I think the defense actually holds up in this game, at least enough to win. The defense is also FINALLY creating turnovers, 10 in the last 4 games. There’s a big difference between Rodgers having extra possessions than Flynn. The Packers are going to score at least 30 points with Rodgers. Throw in Cobb, even if he plays maybe 20 plays, he’ll make a difference in those plays. If there was ever a game where B.J. Raji needs to show up it’s today. Jay just needs to be Jay.

    1. You hit on one of my keys today. Raji has to do something. Too many times in the second half of this season there has been gapping holes in the middle of the D. Forte will have a field-day(did “field-day” come into being because of football?) if the middle is open as it has been. Raji and the ILB’s will need to pick-up their games today if GB hopes to win.

      1. Problem is that Raji isn’t playing NT, at least not in base 34. That’s Pickett… When the Packers go nickel and only 2 DL stopping the run is next to impossible. Just to small… Now if we were playing base 34 a lot and Raji was the NT it might be true. But he’s not and the Packers don’t play base 34 D nearly enough IMO.

Not saying Raji is playing well, he’s been underwhelming, but he’s playing out of position at DE. Play more base 34 w/ Jones or Daniels at RDE. Hard to blame Raji too much when he’s being forced to play out of position. That’s on Capers!

  3. With 5 seconds on the clock, Mason Crosby lines up a 45 yarder from the right hash with GB down by two. It’s windy and getting colder by the seconds. The lines are down – the snap is made – the kick is up and it’ssss ……..

  4. Stroh is correct about Raji. Raji and D needs to come up big today. The windy conditions may dictate more of a run game for both teams. Still, I hope that the Packers come out throwing if feasible and open up run lanes for Lacy. Return game may be a factor for both teams today. Pack needs to avoid kicking to Hester at all costs. Pack 31- 14. Thanks, Since ’61

  5. To Jason and Chad, thanks for all your awesome posts but your both wrong on this one. Pack wins 31-20! Hopes it cold as hell next week and that Saints come to town! Go Pack Go!!

  6. Toporski and Perone, I mean this in the nicest possible way… Suck it! 🙂 I know your hearts are in the right place.
