Matthews ruled out for Sunday’s game at Lions

According to Fox Sports, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.  The Packers will likely use a combination of Dezman Moses and Frank Zombo in place of the injured Matthews.

Matthews was expected to be “a couple of week” as stated by head coach Mike McCarthy.  The team will see how CM3 responds to rehab on the injury and he will be re-evaluated next week.

  1. Bummer, hoping for a victory this Sunday with out Cave MANthews and hoping he’s back for the NY midgets game

  2. What I’m worried about the most is that our D has only looked good against one quality offense this year (houston). They looked bad against SF, NO and Indy, and that was with Mathews, Woodson, Perry and Smith. The rest of the teams they played had bad offenses. So now we are playing a good O with a good QB on the road. I hope the bye week helps the fresh Packers play thier assessing off, because they will need to without the heart of the D in place.

  3. It was mentioned in one of the podcasts that Clay is around a 1/3 of the pass rush…. yikes.
Nobody will replace Clay Matthews, obviously, but Walden and Moses are more than adequate. The d-line needs to step up and get an interior pass rush. The group is talented with guys like Worthy, Neal, Wilson, and Daniels getting better and better.
If Raji wants to stay a Packer, now is his time to show his worth more than ever. His ankle should be good to go after the bye and it’s time to play up to that ninth overall pick in the draft expectation.
