CheeseheadRadio News:

Al: Well, there are few things Packers fans enjoy more than a thorough drubbing of an NFC North rival like the Minnesota Vikings. As such, it’s been a rather joyous week in Packer Nation. The Packers offense was it’s usual self, the defense returned from the cave it had been hiding in and the special teams didn’t suck. Did I miss anything?

Jayme: I don’t think so Al, and the great thing about a blowout win is that it allows you to rest some players and give others some snaps. C.J. Wilson’s snap count increased, allowing heavily-used  BJ Raji to take a few breathers. Matt Flynn got 13 snaps behind center, while Vic So ‘oto and M.D. Jennings both saw their first significant action of the season, with 10 snaps each.

Al:  Switching over to some sad news, Packers legend Forest Gregg announced this week that he is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Gregg, nicknamed “ironman” in his playing days, believes the numerous concussions he suffered in his playing career may be responsible for his condition. He hopes that going public with this information will raise awareness and help stimulate continued research. This is not Gregg’s first serious battle, as he has previously beaten melanoma in 1976 and colon cancer in 2001. CheeseheadRadio wishes Gregg and his family the best of luck in this new battle.

Jayme:  And in more sad news, Johnny Jolly today was sentenced to six years in prison for violating terms of his probation after yet another arrest for drug possession. Johnny was recently featured on ESPN’s Outside the Lines, where he tearfully seemed to finally admit his addiction. In court today, Jolly shed more tears, pleading with the judge to send him to rehab to get help. But after four arrests and continual probation violations, Jolly finally ran out of a second chances. We hope this is the final episode  for Jolly and that he is able to get his life together away from the environment that continually leads to his downfall.

Al:  With 5 weeks to go in the Pro Bowl voting, Aaron Rodgers is the leading overall vote getter, with Tom Brady fairly close behind. Greg Jennings is the sixth leading vote getter and eight other Packers are currently in first place at their position. They are, Chad Clifton, T.J. Lang, Scott Wells, John Kuhn, Mason Crosby, Desmond Bishop, Charles Woodson, Morgan Burnett and Jarret Bush for special teams.

Jayme:  And there was good news on the injury front this week for the Packers. Mike McCarthy this week speculated that starting left tackle Chad Clifton could be ready for the Giants game.  More immediately, defensive end Mike Neal practiced with no limitations this week, and could be activated for the Tampa Bay game. Neal felt he was ready last week, but the Packers always seem to wait an extra week just to be safe.

“Gems from the Packers Twitterverse…”

Jayme:  Thanks to the Packers’ blowout win over the Vikings, the idlest man on the team (otherwise known as backup QB Matt Flynn) got himself some playing time. This later prompted Adam Czech of AllGreenBayPackers.com to point out, “Matt Flynn with more fantasy football points this week than Jay Cutler.”

Al: And from Kyle Cousineau, our own man on the ground in titletown, comes this gem about something that happened during the Vikings game: “Last night some idiot Vikings fan was TRYING to talk smack to Packer fans & I was able to get an “L.A. Vikings” chant going. He sat down.”

Jayme: During the Vikings’ game, the Packer Ranter had a gentle little dig for every Packer fan’s  least favorite Viking, Jared Allen. “If only Jared Allen got points for every time he did his little dance, tweeted the Ranter, “the Vikings might be within a touchdown.”

Al: It was just last week I remember wondering where Chezhdchick has been lately. Just like that, one of my personal favorites returns to the Packers twitterverse by playing a creative little game of Jeopardy. When @thelukerodgers tweeted “9 and 0” after the game, the Chick replied, “What is “Skip Bayless’ I.Q. and the number of women he’s dated?”

I’d say you win Final Jeopardy with that answer, but more importantly you’ve been chosen the…
