Week 17: Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Name Record To-Date This Week’s Pick Score Prediction
Kris Burke 11-4 Green Bay Packers 31-28
In an appropriate ending to a bizarre season, Mason Crosby wins it in overtime on a 45 yard field goal. The Packers don’t want Adrian Peterson in the playoffs so this will be a hard fought game bbetter better team prevails in the end.
“Jersey” Al Bracco 10-5 Green Bay Packers 24-16
Even with Randall Cobb probably missing, the Packers have enough offense to beat the Vikings. With Clay Matthews back on the field, I don’t see Adrian Peterson having another 200 yard performance against the Packers. He’ll get his yards, but the Packers will hold the Vikings to field goals.
Adam Czech 12-3 Green Bay Packers 27-16
It’s simple: If the Packers prevent the Vikings front four from bombarding Aaron Rodgers, the Packers should win fairly easily. If they don’t, who knows what might happen. I know the Metrodome is a quirky place and strange things happen there, but my money is on the Packers hanging tough up front and using their (mostly) healthy receivers to run wild on the Dome turf.
Marques Eversoll 12-3 Green Bay Packers 28-17
All eyes will be on Adrian Peterson this Sunday as he tries to break the single-season record for rushing yards. But fortuantely for the Packers, B.J. Raji is playing at a Pro Bowl-level, and C.J. Wilson is returning to the lineup. I think the Packers will hold Peterson to “only” about 100 yards. With Randall Cobb likely out, I think Greg Jennings becomes the feature guy once again, and when the passing game builds a lead, the Vikings will be forced to rely on Christian Ponder. For Minnesota, it’s “win and get in.” But for the Packers, it’s “win and get a first-round bye.” Both teams have a lot to play for, and I think the better team will prevail. Packers win convincingly.
Thomas Hobbes 11-4 Green Bay Packers 27-17
I think the Minnesota Vikings are maybe one of the most underrated teams in the NFL; they have a good defense with perhaps the greatest running back of his generation.  The Achilles heal of the Vikings however is passing the ball as quarterback Christian Ponder and the Vikings receiving corps have failed to generate consistent yardage and that’s where the Packers are going to attack them.  Keep Adrian Peterson from taking over the game and force Ponder to beat you up top.  If they can do that the Vikings defense won’t be able to hold back the Packers offense for the entire game.  If the Packers can get the lead early I don’t think the Vikings can mount a come back.
Jason Perone 9-6 Green Bay Packers 27-21
It’s the final regular season chapter for the 2012 Green Bay Packers and I see it ending well.  The Vikings will be fired up and ready to forge their way into the playoffs.  They’re also trying to help Adrian Peterson forge his way into the history books with the single-season rushing record.  He needs 205 yards and the Vikes will cite that it’s entirely possible given his 200+ yard day in the first meeting.  It will be loud and I expect a quirky scoring play for the Vikes but otherwise, the Pack are still too much and get the win plus a very important bye week heading into January.
Chad Toporski 11-4 Green Bay Packers 34-17
The Green Bay Packers are on a roll, but more importantly, their defense is really starting to get hot at just the right time. Minnesota is a much better team than Tennessee, and even though they’ll be playing for the postseason, the Packers will be playing for a first-round bye. The return of CJ Wilson will be big in stopping Adrian Peterson, and Jordy Nelson should make up for the probable loss of Randall Cobb.

  1. 38-13 PACK

The PACK get up early, forcing the queens to the air. Peterson doesn’t get the record, he doesn’t even get to 2k… He rushes for a paltry 63 yards on 17 carries.

    GBP 4 LIFE

    1. 63 yards may be right, but they’ll be down so far so fast no way he gets 17 carries. I hope…

    1. Cow 42… Why all the negative energy? I think our fellow Packers fans have reason to believe that the Packers will smoke the Queens. I don’t care who your playing, a defense that’s held the last two teams they’ve played to under 200 yards is moving in right direction. The Packers are a top 10 defense in both yards and scoring and top 5 in sacks. No matter what some think, this Packers team is built for a dome. They will shred the Vikings today!

    2. Adam and Marques have correctly predicted the outcomes of 12 of 15 games… How many correct predictions can you lay claim to?

  2. Yeah…I have to agree. Packers get up early and continue to score forcing the Vikings to the air. Peterson won’t reach the record, not because he doesn’t do well. I think he will not get enough carries, do to them falling behind the Pack in scoring.
My prediction is Packers win 34-17 with one defensive score.

    1. Breakout game for Ross and we won’t have to worry any more about whether or not Cobb should still be returning kicks.

  3. Let me guess nimrod… Pack lose. Let’s say something like 20-17. Queens young kicker hits the winner in OT? Crosby misses a pair? Who’s predictable now!?!?

    🙂

  4. Win or lose I hope no one on our team is injured.

The Vikings are playing for more than we are. If they lose, then the Bears, Giants and Cowboys must lose for Vikings to be in playoffs. I don’t see that happening.

I wish we were playing someone else.

  5. Alex, nothing to worry about. A mere formality. Procure the largest sum of money you can get your hands on… Put it on THE PACK to cover. Thank me later.

  6. Personally I don’t think it’s going to be close. I think the Packers score early and often. While I agree that the Titans gave up last week, it wasn’t until the Packers had scored over 30 of the points that they did. Jennings will break out this game, the Packers fans will drown out the Vikings fans, and Ponder will pull a Cutler and throw the Packers the ball at least 3 times. Packers will win 34-17. The Queens score THAT many points because of a garbage TD at end of game. GO PACK GO!!!!

  7. We’ll win ugly like we have been because our offensive line is liken to bags of potatoes and Allen will slice and dice them. However, Rogers is magic.
