Week 6: Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans
Name Record To-Date This Week’s Pick Score Prediction
Kris Burke 2-3 Green Bay Packers 37-34(OT)
Mike McCarthy does his best work when his team’s back is against the wall.  Late 2010 with all the injuries piling up seems similar to the situation the Packers currently find themselves in. If the Packers have any pride left, this is the game they make a stand.  I refuse to believe McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers will not go down without a fight.
“Jersey” Al Bracco 2-3 Houston Texans 23-21
This is a desperate attempt to jinx the Texans. I haven’t picked against the Packers since the 2010 season, and while an upset here of the favored Texans would not surprise me at all, I figure the Packers need some help. So, I’m going with the Texans in hope my pick goes horribly wrong. Confused? Me too…
Adam Czech 3-2 Houston Texans 28-20
I want to believe the Packers will win. I really do. But I don’t. Randall Cobb will be the key to this game. If he gets a return TD and goes off on a somewhat shaky Texans secondary, you never know……
Marques Eversoll 2-3 Green Bay Packers 24-23
It’s only week six, but the Packers are desperate for a win. And a win against the undefeated Texans would certainly help mask a disappointing collapse last week against the Colts. The Pack will be without Cedric Benson, but I think Alex Green will make the most of his opportunity as the lead back. Houston should shred the Packers defense, but I think Capers’ crew will be able to keep them out of the endzone and hold them to field goals. Aaron Rodgers plays his best game of the season, and the Packers get a much-needed victory on the road.
Thomas Hobbes 2-3 Green Bay Packers 34-31
Rationally, I probably should pick the Texans but I’m going to pick the Packers anyways.  The only thing I can think of going in favor of the Packers is that they know they have to win or getting into the post season will be very unlikely.  Hopefully the Texans are happy sitting at 5-0 and don’t bring their A-game against a very confused looking Packers team.  The Packers aren’t going to win a defensive game but if the Packers can make it a shootout they have a chance to win.
Jason Perone 1-4 Houston Texans 28-24
Houston is just too much for the Pack right now and the Texans are at home.  It stays close as Green Bay always finds a way to compete but a few costly mistakes end up being the difference.  That, and last time I picked against the Packers, they won.
Chad Toporski 2-3 Houston Texans 31-37
J.J. Watt, Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, Arian Foster. . . These guys are going to be tough to beat, especially when the Packers got embarrassed by the Indianapolis Colts. We’ll be optimistic with Green Bay’s bounce-back performance when it’s all said and done, but it just won’t be enough to overcome what is perhaps the best team in the AFC.

  1. Key to this game:

Stop their run and don’t dwell on ours.

    Packers 31-30…Crosby gets it done!

  2. AR needs to be patient on offence taking what the Houston defence is giving, maybe some quick slants to Cobb or dump offs to Green and extending some drives, NOT looking for the big play on 3rd down. If Green Bay can’t sustain some long drives our defence will tire quickly.

  3. I’m going to the game – only 3 hours from home here in Austin.

I hope GB pulls a 2010 and surprises everyone. This game would not be a bad place to start another SB run.

    At the very least I hope I don’t see a massacre….

  4. Aaron Rodgers will come back to his game and hit Jordy Nelson in stride downfield. Finley will catch the ball and Alex Green will show us he can run the ball. Clay Mathews and Nick Perry will handle Matt Straub. Expect an upset against the Texans.

  5. I’m with Adam on this one. I want to believe the Packers can win this one, but I don’t..

It’s an unusual position for this Packers team, one they haven’t been in for a couple of years going into a game with doubts surrounding them and (for me at least) heavy underdogs. The 2010 Packers produced with their backs to the wall, can we now. Heart says yes head says Texans by 2 scores..
