Packers vs. Jets – Seen At the Game…

ALLGBP.com All Green Bay Packers All the Time

Green Bay Packers fans are awesome.

There were SO many Packers jerseys and other Packers gear on display at the Jets game today. But I’ve always found that to be the case here. It goes back to Vince Lombardi, with Vince having coached High School football in the North Jersey area. I met a lot of nice Packers fans at our tailgate, walking through the parking lots, in the stands, and even on line for the port-a-potty. Plenty of  “Go Pack” calls were exchanged and hands were slapped.

I finally got to meet the CheeseheadTV  dynamos, Corey Behnke and Aaron Nagler in person. And I’m happy to say, as a result, I now have a CheesheadTV football to call my own. Ha! I know you’re jealous.

I met a lot of cool Jets fans too, many of whom commented on my Bart Starr jersey. One young kid in particular was awed by it. When I told him it was almost 30 years old, he said, “But it looks like new – I wouldn’t wear that, I would frame it.” Thanks kid, you made my day.

And then there was the game. I wrote yesterday that I anticipated a lot of field goals in this game, but I didn’t expect them to be all for the Packers. A shutout on the road? With a decimated defensive line? I’ll have more on the game tomorrow, but I have to say I was very impressed by the secondary play.  And Tim Mathsay – are you kidding me? Outstanding…

But anyway, here are just a few pictures for your viewing pleasure:

  1. Love the Leine!! A great beer from a great state.

Hope you enjoyed the game! Looks like you all had fun out there.

  2. Al, is it possible I saw you and other GB fans on TV taking pictures of each other? What a surprising win. Once again the offense disappoints but the Defense – absolutely awesome. Caoers really had this one down pat.

I felt likeMM was going to give it away with his insistance about throwing deep on 2nd down. But Ryan proved to be even dumber than Childress.

Thanks for pulling them through guys.

  3. What a surprise that Corey would go with full makeup? That’s hardcore right there. Or crazy. Or both.

This game must’ve been a blast to atend to. Heard there were GO PACK GO chants at the end, with the stadium in deep silence, and Jets fans leaving…

BTW, expecting the MM rant tomorrow… Wasn’t a good game. I really wasn’t concerned with the 3 and out with 4 minutes, because of the way this D and Rodgers were playing. But no screens? Every trick play was a PA…

Anyway, MM admitted himself it wasn’t a good game by him…

    1. Corey is definitely hardcore. As a group of about 20 jets fans across from us let out a J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets cheer, Corey adds (at the top of his lungs) SUCK. I expected to get harassed, but just got some dirty looks.

  4. You wouldn’t want Corey and I sitting together. I am not kidding. But I hope it happens someday. Glad you guys had so much fun and thanks for sharing pix. Kinda felt like I was there too.

  5. I actually thought MM coached a good game. Maybe it wasn’t great from a gameplan or playcalling standpoint in his own mind, but the results are great. I thought, for once, McCarthy actually had a handle on how the game was going. This is two weeks in a row where he used the red flag correctly. I KNEW we would run-run-run-punt when we got the ball back late, and given the game to that point, I was fine with it. Capers deserves a raise.

  6. Was it just me or did everyone seem in slow motion. While watching the game on TV I thought it seemed like both teams were somewhat lethargic. And Andrew Quarless needs to learn how to catch a football soon. It was either the Minnesota or Chicago game where he dropped a touchdown pass and he continued to drop it today.
I was happy to hear the announcers say that the coaches told Aaron Rodgers that completion percentage didn’t really matter in this game as long as he didn’t turn the ball over. Clever way to keep the Jets thinking… or in Ryan’s case, not thinking.

  7. Sounds like you had a great time, Al! What a performance by the defense to see live.

(As an aside, Vince Lombardi coaching high school football? Can’t decide whether those would be the luckiest or most unfortunate kids on the planet.)

    1. defense was awesome. And Matsay? Unbelievable. My HS football coach either played for Lombardi or against his team when Vince was at St. Cecilia HS. I don’t remember for sure and I haven’t been able to verify with anyone. In any case, we got a few halftime speeches that were surely right out of the Lombardi book…
