Packers Tailgate Party – July 23, Oconomowoc Wisconsin

Tailgate Party Fundraiser

Tailgate Party Fundraiser

For Packers fans in Wisconsin or others coming in early for training camp, there’s a fantastic event taking place a week from this Wednesday on July 23. The event is a Packers Tailgate party / Charity Fundraiser on the grounds of Wisconsin Harley-Davidson of Oconomowoc, just 30 minutes west of Milwaukee.

Organized by Mark Mayfield of Mayfield Sports Marketing, admission to the party is free, as is the parking. There will be appearances by several Green Bay players, live music, food, beverages, prizes, raffles, and more.

There will be a “Packers Ticket Booth,” where you can get your picture taken with current or former Packers players. Confirmed to appear will be Ahman Green, Gilbert Brown, Don Barclay, DuJuan Harris and Sean Richardson. Here’s a special 50% off offer for the photo booth (must order by July 19).

There will also be autograph sessions with the players.

100% of the proceeds will go towards various charities, such as MDA, Oconomowoc American Legion, Oconomowoc Lions Club and the Veterans Memorial Park fund in Oconomowoc. So come on out, have a great time, meet some Packers players and support some worthwhile causes.

Mayfield Sports Marketing is a sports marketing firm and booking agency. They offer a wide range of Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and other professional athletes for autograph sessions, golf outings, and football camps, as well as other paid appearances or endorsement deals. Packers Barclay and McMillian Help Raise $30,000 at Levi’s Challenge

Don Barclay, Mark Mayfield, Jerron McMillian and Levi Biestle

Once again, the Packers community has shown how it rallies around one of its own in need.

Levi Biestle is a 3 1/2 yr old young boy who was involved in a tragic lawn tractor accident. He has had 11 surgeries and three toes and part of a foot amputated. More surgeries will be needed, as will be money to help pay for these medical expenses.  (To read about this in more detail, visit levischallenge.com)

This past Saturday, Packers players Don Barclay, Jerron McMillian and a host of volunteers and local businesses got together to donate their time, money, services and raffle items in a concerted effort to raise money for this young Wisconsinite.

The Newburgh Fire department hosted the event, spearheaded by Wayne Sargent and Steve Tate of the “Ultimate Packer Fan Connection.” There were raffles, auctions, food and beverage sales with all proceeds going to the cause.

LS Limo of Appleton provided free transportation for the players. Mayfield Sports Marketing donated items for the raffles and auctions. Too many others to mention were volunteers that helped run the day-long event.

News of the event was spread via social media by the players, fans and members of the Packers Talk Radio Network and Mayfield Sports Marketing.

But of course, the biggest draw were the appearances by Packers’ players Don Barclay and Jerron McMillian, who both cleared time in their schedules to be there to support the fund raising event.

The players signed items that were then auctioned or raffled off. All event attendees received free autographs from the players, but were encouraged to make a donation if they were able to.

In all, it was a huge success; the day’s events raised close to $30,000 to help Levi and his family with the medical expenses they face.

Many thanks go to all involved, but it was the appearance of the Packers’ players that brought in the masses. The players appeared courtesy of Mayfield Sports Marketing, who has been successfully booking player appearances for fund-raisers and other events throughout Wisconsin.

Meet Gilbert Brown at Throwback Weekend III!

Gilbert Brown Autographed Items PACKERS MEMORABILIA
Are you going to be in Green Bay for the game this weekend? Want to participate in what is becoming one of the largest and most prominent annual gatherings of Packers Fans?

If so, then make sure you check out Throwback Weekend III this weekend at the Green Bay Distillery.   To give you a little bit of a background, according to their website Throwback Weekend all started as one fan, Colleen Brenton of Pocket Doppler, planning to attend a game in Green Bay during the 2011 season.   What followed was incredible. More and more people were selecting the same game as their “Lambeau visit” for the year and Throwback Weekend was born.

A simple, small gathering blew up into a two-day event.  A tweet-up on Saturday followed by a tailgate on Sunday before the game were organized by Kyle Cousineau and a legend was born.  The name “Throwback Weekend” was coined by CheesheadTV’s Brian Carriveau who linked together the gathering along with the throwback uniforms the Packers wore against the Rams during the game.

Last year, Throwback Weekend II was moved to the Green Bay Distillery for both days to accommodate the larger crowds and that is where this year’s event will be held as well.

Sound like fun? It definitely is, and I speak as an attendee of (soon to be) all three Throwback Weekends.

If you’re not convinced, “The Grave Digger” and Super Bowl XXXI champion Gilbert Brown will be in attendance at the “tweet-up” Saturday night courtesy of Mayfield Sports Marketing where autographed items will be available for purchase. There will also be signed items from Leroy Butler, Eddie Lacy, Nick Perry, Jerron McMillian and more!

Don’t let the name “tweet-up” fool you.  You’re still invited even if you avoid Twitter with a ten-foot pole.  It’s a party to celebrate what brings all of us together regardless of age, race, gender or political views: the Green Bay Packers.

As I said, I’ll be there too.  Feel free to introduce yourself and if you have any “feedback” on ALLGBP.com, feel free to take it out on me.  Jersey Al is sending me a representative/scapegoat/whipping boy.

See you in Green Bay this weekend!

NOTE: There will be an opportunity for Throwback Weekend attendees to win an Eddie Lacy autographed helmet. One winner chosen at random – Good Luck!

Packers running back Eddie Lacy enjoyed his first career 100-yard rushing day against the Baltimore Ravens.
