This July 22nd – 24th, the highly successful Gilbert Brown Youth Football Camp returns to Oconomowac Wisconsin for it’s fourth straight year. But as if that wasn’t enough, Gilbert and event organizer Mark Mayfield have added something for everyone during those days.

The “Amp It Up” Tumble and Cheer Camp (put on by Xtreme Cheer AthletiX) will be going on at the same time and location as the Football camp. Now your little Cheerleader can get professional training and meet World Champion gymnast Chellsie Memmel while your little football player works on their skills with Gilbert Brown and other coaches. Both camps are for children in Grades 1-6.

Mayfield Sports Marketing has partnered with Wisconsin Harley Davidson and Xtreme Cheer AthleticX, for these camps. They will take place on the grounds of Wisconsin Harley Davidson, located at 1280 Blue Ribbon Drive, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.

Meet Gilbert Brown at Throwback Weekend III!

Gilbert Brown Autographed Items PACKERS MEMORABILIA
Are you going to be in Green Bay for the game this weekend? Want to participate in what is becoming one of the largest and most prominent annual gatherings of Packers Fans?

If so, then make sure you check out Throwback Weekend III this weekend at the Green Bay Distillery.   To give you a little bit of a background, according to their website Throwback Weekend all started as one fan, Colleen Brenton of Pocket Doppler, planning to attend a game in Green Bay during the 2011 season.   What followed was incredible. More and more people were selecting the same game as their “Lambeau visit” for the year and Throwback Weekend was born.

A simple, small gathering blew up into a two-day event.  A tweet-up on Saturday followed by a tailgate on Sunday before the game were organized by Kyle Cousineau and a legend was born.  The name “Throwback Weekend” was coined by CheesheadTV’s Brian Carriveau who linked together the gathering along with the throwback uniforms the Packers wore against the Rams during the game.

Last year, Throwback Weekend II was moved to the Green Bay Distillery for both days to accommodate the larger crowds and that is where this year’s event will be held as well.

Sound like fun? It definitely is, and I speak as an attendee of (soon to be) all three Throwback Weekends.

If you’re not convinced, “The Grave Digger” and Super Bowl XXXI champion Gilbert Brown will be in attendance at the “tweet-up” Saturday night courtesy of Mayfield Sports Marketing where autographed items will be available for purchase. There will also be signed items from Leroy Butler, Eddie Lacy, Nick Perry, Jerron McMillian and more!

Don’t let the name “tweet-up” fool you.  You’re still invited even if you avoid Twitter with a ten-foot pole.  It’s a party to celebrate what brings all of us together regardless of age, race, gender or political views: the Green Bay Packers.

As I said, I’ll be there too.  Feel free to introduce yourself and if you have any “feedback” on, feel free to take it out on me.  Jersey Al is sending me a representative/scapegoat/whipping boy.

See you in Green Bay this weekend!

NOTE: There will be an opportunity for Throwback Weekend attendees to win an Eddie Lacy autographed helmet. One winner chosen at random – Good Luck!

Packers running back Eddie Lacy enjoyed his first career 100-yard rushing day against the Baltimore Ravens.

Interview With the Gravedigger, Former Packer Gilbert Brown

Gilbert Brown All Star Football Camps

Gilbert Brown All Star Football Camps

Gilbert Brown talks about his Youth Football Camps, his Foundation and the Packers. Join us tonight, 8PM Central Time for this live interview on the Packers Talk Radio Network on BlogTalkRadio.

The Cheesehead Radio crew will be interviewing this immensely popular Packers Hall of Fame Member, who spent ten seasons with the Packers.

These days, Gilbert serves as the Head Coach of the Green Bay Chill, part of the Legends Football League (formerly Lingerie Football league).

Every summer, Gilbert holds several Youth Football Camps in Wisconsin, including one totally free camp for inner-city kids, who get three meals a day in addition to some expert football instruction.

For more information about Gilbert Brown’s All Star Football Camp, please visit Mayfield Sports Marketing or The Gilbert Brown Foundation. And be sure to follow Gilbert on Twitter

Through his foundation, he is also very actively on a mission to stomp out bullying. As hard as it may be to believe now, Brown himself was bullied as a child.

So be sure to tune into Cheesehead Radio tonight, with your hosts “Jersey” Al Bracco, Jayme Joers, C.D. Angeli, and John Rehor for great conversation with a Packers legend to satisfy your Packers fix on the Packers Talk Radio Network.

Local Packers Fan to Chill in Green Bay

Jackie Gaertig - Green Bay Chill

Jackie shows off her tackling form for coach Gilbert Brown

As the Monty Python line goes, “And now for something completely different…”

I’m not sure how this even started, but I noticed something on twitter one day about a woman who had tried out for and earned a spot on the Green Bay Chill – that other football team in Green Bay. I did know that the Chill are coached by former Packer fan favorite Gilbert “The GraveDigger” Brown. However, it also dawned on me that I really knew little else, if anything, about the Lingerie Football league, other than, um, the outfits they wear.

I’m always interested in personal stories, so I started to wonder, what is the back story of a woman who wants to play full-contact football, an… ahem… “man’s” game, but do it while dressed in rather feminine outfits? As the saying goes, “Enquiring minds want to know”, so I sought out this young lady and asked if we could hear her story. She more than willingly obliged, so here is the story of Jackie Gaertig, pride of Oconto Falls, WI, and newest member of the Green Bay Chill:

As a young child I would watch the Green Bay Packers every Sunday and have been a die hard Packer fan ever since. My stepfather was a big Packer Fan and I swear you could hear him throughout the whole neighborhood cheering during the game if the windows were open.

My freshman year in High School I was on the Pom Pom team and our football team had made it to State. I danced every halftime show during the football season, and had the chance to dance for halftime at Camp Randall Stadium where the Wisconsin Badgers play. Our High School Football team went on to win State that yr. The following year my family moved to another town 15 minutes west of Oconto Falls but I was still connected to football throughout the rest of High School, as captain of the Cheerleading Squad.

The few years I dated my high school sweetheart, his mother had access to Packers tickets for a few games every season. This was my first chance to go to a game and it strengthened my love for the game of football and of course, the Packers. Our seats were the first row above the tunnel. I had tears in my eyes the first time I walked into Lambeau Field. I will never forget those first few games I attended.
