Week 8 Green Bay Packers vs. New Orleans Saints
Name Record To-Date This Week’s Pick Score Prediction
Kris Burke 6-1 Green Bay Packers 31-21
When the schedule came out, I had this game penciled in as a loss for the Packers but the Saints defense is absolutely terrible. Brees will have his moments but don’t expect Aaron Rodgers to be slowed down by this secondary.
“Jersey” Al Bracco 6-1 Green Bay Packers 41-24
Playing at New Orleans at night is pretty much always a wide open, high scoring affair and this one will be no different. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s much closer than my score, but the Saint’s secondary is a disaster that Rodgers will exploit and Eddie Lacy will run wild.
Adam Czech 6-1 New Orleans Saints 30-27
It’s hard to win on the road in the NFL. It’s even harder to win in New Orleans. It’s extra hard to win on the road, in New Orleans, facing Drew Brees without Sam Shields and (maybe) Morgan Burnett. The Packers drop a close one.
Thomas Hobbes 5-2 Green Bay Packers 35-28
This one is gonna be tough but I think the huge differential in talent on defense is what decides this.  Of all the teams in the NFL, the Packers are definitely one of the few that can keep up with the firepower of a fully armed and operational Saints offense.
Chad Toporski 6-1 Green Bay Packers 38-31
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Saints won this contest, but I think the Packers are really the better team overall. Rodgers is on fire, while Brees simply isn’t. Also, the Packers defense will have its better days against the pocket passer, like Brees, so I’m not as worried about them.
Jason Perone 5-2 Green Bay Packers 35-27
The bad news: Packers could be without Sam Shields and Morgan Burnett this week.  The good news:  Neither of them rush the quarterback and Aaron Rodgers is running the Green Bay offense.  Saints score late to make it closer than it seems but the Packers get another win heading into the bye.
Jay Hodgson 7-0 Green Bay Packers 45-42
The Saints have been a dumpster fire so far this season, but I think they are a sleeping giant waiting to get on a roll, and they certainly are a much different team in the dome. However, the team that has the ball last will win this game. Packers win very close in a shootout.
Cory Jennerjohn 7-0 Green Bay Packers 34-30
The Saints are 10-0 in the raucous Mercedes-Benz Superdome last year and through two games this year. Even though New Orleans is a sieve on defense and is still looking to find its sea legs on offense, this one is still going to be a dogfight. The two reasons the Packers will win is if they get a consistent pass rush on Drew Brees — who has thrown seven picks when under pressure — and because New Orleans’ top running back (Khiry Robinson) and top pass catcher (Jimmy Graham) are injured.
Andy Burch 5-2 Green Bay Packers 45-20
The Saints defense is terrible and the Packers offense is on fire so the Packers will put up a lot of points. With Drew Brees anything is possible, but the offense isn’t playing up to their standards and the Packers defense is playing well. If the Packers get a lead early then the Packers pass defense can hold down that offense, except Jimmy Graham, he will have a big game, the Packers don’t have anyone that can cover an athletic tight end.

  1. Looks like Adam is the only one eating crow after this game because the Packer not only keep the streak going with a win this game but they will run the next six also 🙂

  2. The Saints record at home makes them hard to pick against, but I don’t see any way their defense can slow down the Packers. Cameron Jordan’s a little scary but their secondary is garbage. Byrd’s on IR. Vaccaro’s the worst rated safety in the league.

With the much improved Packers defense I doubt the Saints can turn it into a shoutout. They’re just not the type of team the Packers have trouble with. The Pack should win this.

  3. I’m SO freaking tossed up on this game. About as on the fence as I can be. On one hand, on paper the Packers are the vastly superior team. Their pass rush, in addition to the new NASCAR look against a traditional pocket passer, a complete secondary, and an offense that overall is getting better and better puts them miles ahead of da aint’s. On the other hand, NO still has Drew Brees, a some-what respectable run game, and a lot of successful history in recent years, especially at home. Furthermore, they’re super pissed, and super desperate.

I have to do the unthinkable and predict a tie.

  4. Although the Saints play great at home the Packers should win this game. They are catching the Saints with injuries, a porous defense and with Brees not as sharp as he can be. For the Pack, Rodgers is on fire, the OL and run game are improving and the D is much improved especially against a pocket passer. If the Packers avoid coming out flat, stupid penalties and turnovers they can take this game. I like the Pack 34-23. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since ’61

  5. If the Packers lose this game, it will be because they’ve still not learned that when the enemy is wounded and struggling, you have to step on their neck to extinguish any hope of their survival.

I hope they are feeling their Vandalistic and Visigothic oats tonight, and metaphorically murder, loot and plunder their way through the Saints.
