    I predict three superbowls in a row…

What happens on the defensive side of the ball this season, will have large looming effects on what can/can’t be achieved in Green Bay during Rodgers best years to win a couple more SBs.

Getting the Packers more rings is up to both McCarthy and Capers improving their piss poor game planning.

    Simple as that.

I really think this is the year we get another one. The defense has got to be improved again this year with Jones and the return of Perry along with the fact that the offense may actually have a running game to go to. Plus, being slightly under the radar is a very good thing. I think we set the tone with a win in SF in opening day.

Couldn’t agree more. I expect the Packers to have a big year. Tough schedule, but so do Vikes and rest of division for the most part. Packers will NFCN at 11-5 at worst, the go on a run in the playoffs! No going to predict another Lombardi Trophy, but IMO, its a real possibility.

I hope that this is the year that AR gets his second ring as a Packer. I think that it is possible this year but that as the years pass that possibility decreases. Both SF and Seattle had superior drafts this year and the teams in the NFC North are only getting stronger. The Packers have slid from Super Bowl champs to, at most, the 4th best team in the NFC. Teams in the AFC, like Houston and Cincinnati and Denver are also getting stronger. So, this must be the year. Let’s hope that Finley, Lacy and James Jones have spectacular years and that the defense rises to the occasion. Let’s “fly under the radar.”

Thompson runs rings around Sherman as GM, no comparison. But success in terms of NFL championships is much more matter of luck and timing in the last decade than season-long coaching or roster strength. It now comes down to who’s peaking come December and Jan: see Giants’ wins in ’07 and ’11, ours in ’10, Steelers in ’05, Ravens last year; and for runners-up,the Cardinals in ’08, perhaps the ugliest near-champ ever. This is why I’m for less playoff games, not more; in-season mediocrity shouldn’t be rewarded with a “do-over” chance to turn it on in the playoffs. In a perfect world, 2011 Pack doesn’t have to have an off day against a 9-7 team like the Giants. The only people inspired by that win were Giants fans, but for excellence-appreciating fans, it’s a piss in the face.

You know what’s really needed in that pair of pics at the top of this article? Bart Starr saying “You… shall not… PASS!”

  • tarrega

Ravens backed into the superbowl. Denver was the hot team at the time.
Atlanta should of beat SF, etc

In spite of QBs being the marquee players, it’s still the ultimate team game. The 2010 Super Bowl Packers defense was extremely clutch, closing out several big games with timely defensive plays. Since then, not so much. Brady won those rings when his defense was at it’s best, not when he was throwing for big numbers. Rogers is on the same path now. Hopefully the defense gets back to championship form this year.

C’MON Packers fans–this guy FORGETS-NO OTHER QB IN NFL HISTORY has won as many TITLES as Bart Starr and the Lombardi Packers DOMINATED football for 8 consecutive years, winning titles in 5 and losing out by about 7 yards and a few seconds more in the ’60 title game. The Packers got HOT for 6 consecutive games in the ’10 SB title season, have not been able to keep rolling at season’s end since because they simply haven’t had a defense as good as that ’10 team. With ground game beginning to look more like ’96 SB team, this defense can make or break Packers again this season–looking for some BIG improvements-this team looks ready to roll but Dom Capers unit will be the difference again.

Regarding scanning the topic plenty will believe it as it is what we really believe so it’s nice spotting an op that is writing snippets on this on the net to think about
