Week 5: Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts
Name Record To-Date This Week’s Pick Score Prediction
Kris Burke 2-2 Green Bay Packers 34-20
No reason for the Packers to lose this game. None.  Still, I’m a buyer on Andrew Luck and think he will have a decent game but the Packers offense appears to have finally discovered the gas pedal.  Look for the Packers to ride their newly discovered balanced offense thanks to Cedric Benson and win this one fairly easily.
“Jersey” Al Bracco 2-2 Green Bay Packers 38-13
After surviving a scare from the Saints and once again the referees, the Packers finally have a laugher they can enjoy from start to finish. Benson and Cobb have big days and the Packers D picks off 2 passes, as “Luck” is on their side…
Adam Czech 3-1 Green Bay Packers 31-19
The defense will bend, but rarely break, Rodgers will build off last week’s game, and the Packers will roll. The Packers need to score early in this one. Can’t give the Colts any hope.
Marques Eversoll 2-2 Green Bay Packers 31-16
I’m buying all the hype on Andrew Luck. I really do believe he’ll be one of the best quarterbacks in the league in a few years. But in 2012, I think Dom Capers will throw some confusing looks at Luck and force a couple turnovers. With a healthy Greg Jennings, I think this might have been a 40-point explosion. The Colts move the ball on the Packers, but they can’t find the endzone as much as they’d like. Packers win 31-16, and move to 3-2.
Thomas Hobbes 2-2 Green Bay Packers 31-20
Previous history of games between the Packers and Colts would indicate that a ton of points are going to be scored.  I think the Packers offense will stay in their groove that they found against the Saints, but the Colts will probably score a fair amount as well with first overall pick Andrew Luck.  While Luck may be congruent to Peyton Manning in the future, at the moment he’s still a rookie who can get easily flustered, so expect to see exotic blitzes and probably a couple turnovers by the Colts.  One advantage that the Colts do have is that Packers seem to have some issues with quarterbacks and coaches they aren’t expecting (Micheal Vick and Caleb Hanie in 2010, Romeo Crennel in 2011), and new interm head coach Bruce Arians is likely to throw some things that the Packers aren’t prepared for.
Jason Perone 1-3 Green Bay Packers 35-14
The Colts will be playing with a ton of emotion and for Head Coach Chuck Pagano but that will only take them so far.  A lackluster defense taking on one of the best QB’s indoors isn’t a good recipe for the home team.  Ced Benson gets his first 100 yard game of the season and the Pack pull away late to get their first road win.
Chad Toporski 2-2 Green Bay Packers 30-13
Andrew Luck may be the first round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, but he is still a rookie by all accounts. It doesn’t help that his offensive line is one of the worst in the league, either. If the defense can keep its hands on their turnovers this week, the Colts could be in for a long day.

  1. I know we’ve all “moved on” from the Seattle game, but I’d to add one more postscript. I won’t get into the techinical aspects of a simultaneous catch, but I can assure you the final play did not meet the specifications of the rule. But that’s not what I want to get into. What was amazing to me is how the replacement refs came up with the call. It was bad enough the side judge, Easley, made the initial poor call, but there was an opportunity for the white-hat, referee Wayne Elliot, to set things straight in review. But here is where it gets really strange. Elliot, on the “Inside the NFL” show stated; “When I say the replay for the first time with audio, I heard Mike Tirco saying – and he’s looking at it for the first time live – and he says, ‘Simultaneous,'” Elliot said , referring to the MNF announcer. “He says that word in his description of the play. So I think it was right.”

So incredibly, it was Mike Tirico’s call that influenced Elliot not to overturn. It’s clear that both Easley and Elliot had no idea of the proper application of the simultaneous rule. Elliot goes on to say he’d now probably rule it an interception. Buffoons!

Wow, if the Packers 2012 season is derailed by this loss (think of 2010 when one more loss would have meant no SB) then in this Bizarro world, it may have been Tirico’s call of the game that ends up indirectly costing them a playoff spot or better seeding. Had to get that off my chest.

    Anywho, Pack 35 – Indy 13.

    1. I never new that the review being seen by the Referee under the hood had the audio of what the announcers thought of the play.I always thought it to be mute without any possible bias to sway a finding.
That has to be changed…we cannot allow booth idiots to aid in the decision of any Refereeing.

      1. Good field, I start out ti read everything what’s fit in with acting once i had been accepted along with shot in well-known tv-show, I have obtained taken with well-known tvshowxtras.com regarding walk-ons throughout weeds

  2. 35-10 Packers
I hope and expect Capers to be more aggressive this week. Let the dogs out Dom. I think we’re building a really good defense for years to come and a team like the Colts is a great chance to help get the younger guys some confidence. I would like to see more of Perry and Hayward this week.
The Colts are certainly getting better but there is no reason to let up this Sunday. Go Pack.

  3. 44-17 Packers
Thinking that playing for coach Pagano will only work until they see that emotion doesn’t trump solid play. Vontae Davis and Pat Angerer are out and Freeny is a game-time decision. Luck has only scored over 2 TDs in one game, and most of those have come in the first half. Many of their 2nd half points to-date have come from FGs … slightly reminiscent of Brady and the Patriots? LOL And don’t forget … Rodgers plays really well in domes!!

  4. Rodgers hasn’t been “great” since week 14 of ’11. Should get back on track sunday but have seen stranger things happen. Also should give Driver more reps.
