Week 3: Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks
Name Record To-Date This Week’s Pick Score Prediction
Kris Burke 1-1 Green Bay Packers 28-21
The Packers at times have let rookie quarterbacks have their way with them. Look at the start Christian Ponder at the Metrodome last year, even though the Packers won a close game.  The Seattle defense will hinder the Packers offense enough that it won’t stop the “what’s wrong with the offense?” debate but it should be enough to put an end to the ridiculous critique of Aaron Rodgers’ leadership skills.
“Jersey” Al Bracco 1-1 Green Bay Packers 31-20
The Seahawks are the flavor of the week after their beat-down of the Cowboys. I’m not buying it. If this were at Lambeau it’s a blowout. Playing in Seattle on a Monday night will even the playing field a bit, but the Packers still win comfortably.
Adam Czech 1-1 Seattle Seachickens 26-24
I circled this game as an upset special before the season and (unfortunately), I’m not changing my mind. The Seachickens have two good safeties, excellent run defense, and they light you up when making tackles. Oh, and they have Marshawn Lynch paired with a mobile QB. I just don’t like this match-up.
Marques Eversoll 1-1 Green Bay Packers 27-23
The recipe to disrupt a talented spread offense is to pressure the quarterback with four down linemen. The Seahawks not only boast a stout defensive line, but they have a very deep and talented secondary as well. This will be a close game if Russell Wilson and the Seahawks take care of the ball. But ultimately, I think Clay Matthews and the pass rush will torch the Seahawks’ shaky O-Line. The Packers win at Seattle, but it won’t be easy.
Thomas Hobbes 1-1 Green Bay Packers 27-17
My feeling is that the Packers are still a front-running team, meaning if the game is close in the 4th quarter then there’s a problem.  If the Packers offense can establish balance in the running game I think Jennings, Nelson, Cobb and Finley will be too much for the Seahawks defense to manage.  On defense, if they can limit Lynch and force Russell Wilson to beat them in the air, the defense can perform like they did against Chicago; when you think of Perry, Worthy, Daniels and Moses, what they do best is rush the passer; if they have dual responsibilities to contain the run and rush the passer I’m not sure they can manage, but if the Packers get ahead early and the Seahawks have to play catch up then the defense can pin their ears back and beat the Seahawks.
Jason Perone 0-2 Green Bay Packers 27-20
At one of the toughest road venues in the NFL, the Packers re-solidify themselves as a top team in the NFC. Two good defenses, but the Packers get their first pick-6 of the year to secure a win.
Chad Toporski 1-1 Green Bay Packers 38-20
The Seahawks defense, though stout, can be beaten with speed. If Greg Jennings is back in the mix, expect Aaron Rodgers to regain his air attack after two down games. Seattle won’t be able to run forever once they are behind, and Capers will throw some confusing looks at rookie QB Russell Wilson.

  1. I agree with Adam as to the trap game but,I also feel it would be more a possibility if the Saints weren’t beginning to look like the ‘Aints’ a little bit…defensively.

I guess the Packers may be able to keep both eyes/mind on the game at hand and not peek around the corner to next week but for now I go 27-17 Packers but a 24-23 is possible for either with the kicker winning it.

    1. Not saying that you are, but I think it almost hinges on disrespectful to think that the Packers will “look past” this game. They’ve had extra time to prepare, and after Dallas’ embarassing loss, I can’t imagine McCarthy, his staff, and the players not taking things seriously.

Whether that equates to a win or not is still to be seen. I just don’t think they’ll take the Seahawks lightly.

      1. What I’m saying is…if the Saints weren’t looking like they are but like they would before ‘Bounty Gate’ and the apparent effect of it,the Packers would be more suspect to the trap aspect.

The Cowboys embarassing loss to the Seahawks doesn’t make Seattle an automatic team to be reckoned with,it makes them much more interesting but the Cowboys seem to do that all too often.

No disrespect to Seattle but lets not give them all to much after two weeks of ARI(loss) and the infamous weekly who’s showing up Dallas Cowboys.

Besides,I did note that a 24-23 score and kicker could win it either way.

If the disrespect was toward GB,I don’t believe they are above looking pass anyone any given week.

        1. I know you weren’t, my comment was more towards the general audience who do make that leap.

  2. Portly Packer Pickett will pick a pass from pocket-sized passer and proceed to put up points as he pirouettes to paydirt.

    GB 62 – Seattle 3

    1. Perhaps. 😉

In all seriousness though, watching one of the sacks from last week’s game, I was amazed to see Pickett on a stunt, getting 10-15 yards deep in the backfield. He looked like a wild man! I don’t know the last time, if I’ve ever, seen him so mobile. One of my favorite players.

  3. With the current form. The Defense is better than the Offense. Although I could be wrong, I still this the Offense struggles this week although the Defense has issues with a mobile Russel Wilson.

    21-10 Packers

I just want to see one long pass from Rodgers that is on target, until I can see one, I cannot be confident in giving 30-40 scores.

  4. 3 good D’s to start the season, all with the capability of applying pressure with 4 and dropping 7 , which is the formula that gives the Packers O the most trouble. This one will be on the road in a hornets nest . The Seahawks D hasnt givin up more then 23 pts in thier last 11 games . I doubt the team is looking past this one. I’m looking forward to playing the Saints defense at home .

It’s important to get the running game going . Benson has to keep the defense honest . our run defense must play well. Packers 26 , Seahawks 17

  5. Simply put, this a game they should win by 10+. They have had 10 days off and facing a rookie QB. Caper should be able to gameplan to limit Lynch and create pressure on Wilson. I think how they play tonight will show alot about the coaching staff and maturity of the team. The Saints are 0-3 and essentially out of the playoff picture. That is a team that I think we match up bad with and we need to take advantage of their absence.
